Border Crossings
The main border crossing between South Africa and Zimbabwe:
Beitbridge Border Post
The Beitbridge border post connects Musina (Limpopo, South Africa) with Beitbridge (Zimbabwe). It is the busiest land border in southern Africa and handles millions of crossings annually.
- Location: N1 highway, Musina (SA side) / A4 highway (Zimbabwe side)
- Hours: Open 24 hours (but expect long queues, especially during holidays)
- Documents: Valid passport required (ID book not accepted for international travel)
- Visa: South Africans can enter Zimbabwe visa-free for up to 90 days
- Tip: Avoid travelling during South African school holidays and December/January — queues can be 4-12+ hours. Weekday crossings are significantly faster.
