Frequently Asked Questions

DHA forms are available at your nearest South African embassy or high commission. Some missions provide downloadable PDF versions on their websites. You can also check the DHA eHomeAffairs portal at ehome.dha.gov.za for certain forms. Note that forms from embassies may be more current than online versions.

From 1 March 2026, the DHA no longer accepts mailed-in passport, identity document, or birth registration applications. All applications must be submitted in person at a DHA office, VFS Global centre, or South African embassy/consulate abroad.

If you make an error, draw a single line through the mistake, write the correct information next to it, and initial the correction. Do not use correction fluid. If the form has too many corrections, request a new one from the embassy.
