Visa Application Process
Step 1Determine Visa Type
Check if you need a visa and which type suits your travel purpose on the DHA website or your nearest South African embassy.
Step 2Gather Documents
Prepare: valid passport (30+ days validity beyond stay), completed DHA-84 form, passport photos, proof of accommodation, return ticket, proof of funds, and travel insurance.
Step 3Submit Application
Apply at the South African embassy/consulate in your country, or through a VFS Global application centre (available in many countries).
Step 4Collect Passport
Once processed, collect your passport with the visa sticker from the embassy or VFS Global centre. Track your application online.
Important Notes
- All visitors must have a passport valid for at least 30 days beyond their intended departure date from South Africa.
- Your passport must have at least 2 blank pages for entry/exit stamps.
- Children travelling to or from South Africa may need an unabridged birth certificate.

- Overstaying your visa in South Africa results in a ban (1-5 years depending on the duration of the overstay).
